Video Game Design – Journey to Trappist-1 (Ages 8-11)

Summer 2017

In early 2017, astronomers announced the discovery of the Trappist-1 system and its seven “earth-like” planets, only 40 light years away. In this action-packed, Trappist-1-inspired game design camp, you learn about the physics of space travel, engineer extraterrestrial ecosystems, and design alien worlds. Through the creation of board games, outdoor games and, of course, video games, you explore the key principles of game design from a curriculum designed by game artists and engineers. You’ll also learn how to use Unity3D, the software of choice for game developers around the world. Trappist-1 may be light years away, but after this camp you will have created a piece of it on Earth.
