The Coding Lab (Ages 8-10)

Summer 2018

The world is built on coding concepts: the idea that smaller, single-purpose functions join together to create complex systems. (Bricks become buildings. Buildings become factories. Factories produce wings. Wings make flight possible. That sort of thing.) The Scratch programming language is a great tool to help you understand how software systems are created from simple functional blocks. Join us and learn how to use the design process and data flows to create interactive games in Scratch! You will also use analog and digital tools as part of your process, including designing games on paper. There will also be plenty of opportunity to get fresh air, just to get a break from the screens once in a while. Remember to pack your lunch and healthy brain snacks!
