HTML & CSS Web Fundamentals

Spring 2017

Regardless of your profession, HTML and CSS are great skills to have. And even a little knowledge of how websites work, can make a big difference in your marketing or digital design career. The good news is that writing HTML & CSS from scratch is fast and easy. With a solid foundation in modern HTML & CSS coding, you can design a website exactly the way you want, have the skills to edit websites created with other tools like WordPress or Dreamweaver, and have a deeper understanding of the web. After this course, you will be able to hand-code a basic website, including changing colours, fonts, creating/updating hyperlinks, adding forms and integrating social media, and have the knowledge to decipher HTML and CSS code from other websites to aid in further learning.

PREREQUISITES: Strong keyboarding and file management skills required.

REQUIRED TEXTBOOK: HTML and CSS: Visual QuickStart Guide (8th Edition) by Elizabeth Castro & Bruce Hyslop, available at Chapters and Amazon. Please purchase and bring to first class.
