Fantastic Writing (Ages 13+)

Summer 2017

Harry Potter, Daughter of Smoke and Bone, The Golden Compass, Lord of the Rings, Percy Jackson – What do all these books have in common? They are all considered “fantasy”. Fantasy includes a diverse range of stories and has many subgenres, from Urban Fantasy starring vampires to High Fantasy starring wizards and dragons. In this workshop, through discussion, short fiction, and short films, we explore these subgenres and build our own fantastic world from which to create original myths, legends, poetry, and other tales. Join author Danika Dinsmore for an inspiring journey through the realm of fantasy writing. The camp features new insights, exercises, and projects to engage new and returning Fantastic Writing students.
