Adobe Photoshop Fundamentals

Fall 2019

Learn basic Photoshop skills and improve your workflow with an overview of essential tools and techniques. Topics include: resizing and cropping images, creating and editing selections, combining images with layers, adjusting colours, basic retouching and working with type to add text to images. Resolution and file formats will also be discussed. Advanced topics, including adjustment layers and layer masks, are briefly demonstrated. Time will be provided to work on personal photos. Basic photography experience is an asset but not required. Note that this course is taught in a PC lab, but is compatible for Mac users.

PLEASE NOTE: If you’re enrolled in the Award of Achievement in Photography program, and are trying to decide between Photoshop or Lightroom, bear in mind that Photoshop is the more advanced option, and is particularly well suited to anyone familiar with photo editing concepts.


This course can be applied toward an Award of Achievement in Digital Photography
