Adobe Photoshop Fundamentals

Fall 2017

Whether you’re a print or web designer, social media marketer, photographer, or beginner, Photoshop can make your images look great. Learn basic Photoshop skills, from image editing, resizing and retouching, to making adjustments, combining images with layers and optimizing for web and print. Topics covered include essential tools and palettes, resizing, cropping and resolution, optimizing file size and graphic quality for print and web; retouching photos; layers, selections & layer masks; working with type and colour; adding text to images and more. Time will be provided to work on personal photos. Basic photography experience is an asset but not required. Taught in a PC lab, but is compatible for Mac users.

PREREQUISITES: Good computer skills including file and folder management, and working with file formats and shared network drives and/or Dropbox. Familiarity with a personal computer, mouse, simple keyboard shortcuts and the Windows operating system.
