Introduction to Digital Photography August 3, 2017

In this hands-on course, you learn what all those controls, buttons and menus are for, when to use them, and how to get your pictures from your camera onto your computer or the web. Take a hands-on tour of your camera’s features, learning technical terms and photographic concepts as you go. Practise shooting techniques and learn how to edit, print, email and archive images. There is one off-campus shooting session. Bring your digital camera to class. The course will take place in a computer lab but you may bring your laptop if you wish to.

You know how to shoot photos, but do you know how to organize them and make them look the best they can? This course teaches you how to organize and enhance your photos using Adobe Lightroom. You’ll also learn how to follow a detailed workflow to vastly improve your photo management skills and enhance your digital photographs in creative ways. Topics include importing photos, organizing them through keywords, cropping, correcting colour, contrast and brightness, converting to black and white, sharing your images, and more. Adobe Lightroom is one of the most-used software programs for organizing and enhancing digital photos. It’s simple enough for beginners, but also powerful enough for professionals.
