Adobe Photoshop Fundamentals November 30, 2018

Whether you’re a photographer, graphic designer, social media marketer or beginner, Photoshop can make your photos and image compositions look great. Learn basic Photoshop skills and improve your workflow with an overview of essential tools and techniques. Topics include: resizing and cropping images, creating and editing selections, combining images with layers, adjusting colours, basic retouching and working with type to add text to images. Resolution and file formats will also be discussed. Advanced topics, including adjustment layers and layer masks, are briefly demonstrated. Time will be provided to work on personal photos. Basic photography experience is an asset but not required. Note that this course is taught in a PC lab, but is compatible for Mac users.

PREREQUISITES: Good computer skills, including file and folder management, and working with file formats and shared network drives and/or Dropbox. Familiarity with keyboard shortcuts and the Windows operating system.

Calling all aspiring web developers, small-business owners, communications professionals and website administrators! In today’s world, even a little knowledge of how websites work can make a big difference in your career. Discover how to create a basic website using HTML and CSS (“the language of the web”), gain a foundational understanding of how websites work and how you can make tweaks to your own website and edit websites created with tools like WordPress or Dreamweaver. After this course, you will be able to hand-code a basic website, including changing colours and fonts, creating or updating hyperlinks, adding forms and integrating social media into your site. You will also be able to communicate effectively with professional web developers. Please bring your own laptop (Mac or PC) to class.
